I have a chance to get a 190 gas for next to nothing. It has a rebuilt transmission with hardly ant use. The problem is the engine, it was getting water in the oil so it was parked and has set for a number of years. I guessing the best fix would be to find a different engine as parts are impossible to find for the gas. So maybe find a good diesel for it? What's the best option?

Find out how water is getting in the oil first, then decide.  It could be just a head gasket - I think they are still available.
