I recently acquired an Allis Chalmers grader. It has a diesel engine. It has sat for a while. Diesel tank was empty. I have diesel to the injector pump, but can’t seem to get the pump primed. I have the lines cracked open to bleed but no luck yet. Cranked on it for a while. Any tricks? Maybe pump needs rebuilt?

The shaft in the pump is most likely sheared off, those pumps would stick while sitting and then when the motor was turned over it shear the drive off.Unfortunately the parts are extremely hard to find

Thanks for the information. Do you know if there are replacement pumps available? Looking online there seems to be a few, but not sure if those are the right ones.

I don't know what year the makes it. If it is the 230 "buda" engine you should not have turned the engine before removing pump. Too late now. If it's late enough to have the 262 D17 diesel it will have a stanadyne pump and can be fixed.
