Picked up a new project today. Not sure if the picture will work or not? Anybody know how many pads make up a full track? I'm guessing some are missing.

Awesome find! I am guessing they also had skis on the front too. I think I saw a picture of one of these in my Allis Chalmers Book.

I believe Charlie Widlund has one, he could be a source for info.

There were 291 of these built in 1944 for the military. The motor, tranny and rearend are from a WWII jeep so that the military had parts on hand for them. The grill is a B grill widened about 10". It's chain drive from the rearend to the track drive sprocket. These skis are steel but the originals were wood. Has individual rear brakes with both hand and foot throttle. This one was used by a power company for years and then possibly a hunting rig since it has gun racks inside right now. Not sure at what point the cab was built for it and I have to decide whether to keep that or remove it.

Thanks for the reply on track tread count. That means I am only missing one tread.

Not sure how long its been since it was run but today I got it running. Smoked pretty good but had 60 pounds of oil pressure. Probably some stuck rings? Now the search will be on for one track tread. I would like to drive it before I tear it down to restore it just to check for anything not working like it should.

That is awesome!!! I’ve seen one in my Allis book and thought it was awesome! Thought I read somewhere that it has a max speed of 35 mph?

They are pretty darn cool those things. Dale Haymaker has one of those in his collection. I was checkin' it out. If you look behind Jo Jo, its sitting there. He may be able to help you with some info as well Lon. We were at the Orange Power of the Past show.

I knew Dale had one but when I looked him up I saw he hasn't been active on here for a couple years so I wasn't sure what that meant. I haven't been doing much tractor stuff either since I got into the old cars but when I saw this I figured I better buy it.

I owned the front half of one some years ago, it had been cut off just behind the two-speed gearbox which was coupled to the three-speed Jeep transmission. The four-cylinder Jeep flathead was complete but stuck. It had a large diameter generator which I believed to be a 24 Volt unit.
I gave it to my brother-in-law who is into military vehicle restorations, he took it to Caldwell, Idaho to use for parts in a restoration of another unit.

If you notice in the Widlund picture, there's a photo album that details the restoration of that machine. I'm sure that Charlie could help on some questions, if need be.

Got good news today. The guy I bought the M7 from called and said they found the tread I was missing for the tracks so now I have a complete set. I'll go get it this weekend and then I just need a picture from someone who has one and I can start rebuilding them.
