Hey everyone, I figured it was time to start a proper build thread on this little Allis B I dragged home recently. I picked it up in an online auction last week, and to be totally honest… it’s probably the saddest tractor I’ve ever loaded on a trailer. Most folks would have called it a parts tractor or yard art, and I wouldn’t have blamed them. But Bs are getting hard to find in my area, and when you do find one, it’s usually in about the same shape for three times the money. I’ve been told more than once that I’m crazy for trying to save this one – which usually means I’m on the right track. My plan is to do a full teardown and rebuild, one subassembly at a time. The engine will probably be the last thing that gets rebuilt. First comes dismantling, transmission, final drives, steering gear, and so on. I’m documenting the whole process, and I’ll post updates here as I make progress. I’m always open to advice, tips, or warnings from folks who’ve been into these Bs before. no battery... no boss mount for generator on engine ... front rims rivet to the hub.... your right.. its an early one... Serial number is on the trans casting by the shift lever... Motor casting "11" should be the second year of manufacturing i thinkg.. started with "10" ?? Might be an engine serial number on left side of engine casting by bell housing.. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |
