Hi, the fairbanks morse fmj magnito on my 1937 allis WC throws great spark and it runs great and starts ok. But the kill switch is not working, I've torn it down twice now trying to fix it and it hasn't helped, everything is ready good on my multi meter and its hooked up right but its not working. Anyone have any ideas?

The kill switch is simply a route to ground from the post on the magnito which, when grounded stops the generation of spark.  If with the engine running, you touch the wire to ground and it kills the engine, you’ve proved that it’s a faulty switch.  If touching the wire to ground doesn’t kill the engine, but connecting a short wire from the terminal to ground does kill the engine, you’ve proved it’s a faulty wire.  If touching a short wire from the terminal to ground does not kill the engine, you’ve proved that it’s a failed connection within the generator.  The kill switch is simply providing a route to ground, so if you prove it’s the switch, it’s either poorly grounded or the contacts within the switch are not making a connection.

Jack is right.. use a short jumper wire and touch the terminal to GROUND.. If it will not kill it, then your missing or have a bad wire on the INSIDE from the terminal to the point..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
