Mike, Wow great fall plowing video! We never did any fall plowing. The three bottoms on the wide front 45 bring back many memories! The ground is nice! And your plow turns it over well. Thank you for posting this! Almost makes me want to plow something! Love to hear those Allis 45s with the governor opened up! Were you in second gear? Regards, Chris and Cheryl

Are you going to plant a cover crop now?

I can only dream of doing that!

Chris, yes, second gear. It's the right groundspeed.Gary, I don't think he is going to plant a cover crop.
Les, I don't think I've ever dreamed of moldboard plowing. Plenty of daydreaming though!
I plowed at Mingo the following Saturday with the 856 and 565 Oliver, shot video but haven't started editing it yet. This Saturday will be at Lucas Iowa back on the 45 for this one. November 15th at Huxley. I do enjoy a good plow-day!

Here's one from last Saturday; https://youtu.be/8UNaxRXMUgk?si=Aw2Am4nEcnELUJH_" rel="nofollow - https://youtu.be/8UNaxRXMUgk?si=Aw2Am4nEcnELUJH_ I was piloting my 856 with Oliver 565 plow. Sadly no Orange tractors in attendance. Tomorrow's plow day at Lucas got cancelled, might go fishing? Have been making good progress on the various plow projects in the shop, really like that!

Other than the rock event, that plow seems to pull quite easy there.
I grew up on heavy clay, with rocks, and there were a lot of field locations our 806 really lugged down to pull through. Had the IH five bottom plow, eventually my father rescued at least three more plows for parts but that was after I'd left the farm.
Thanks for the ride along views, so much the same as ours, the memories.

The 856 handles it nicely but you know it's back there from time to time. It always amazes me how quickly soil conditions change.

Reminds me of the Farm Progress Show in 1983. Our last serious rainfall was July 5th or 6th and I was combining corn in September that yielded from near zero on tops of the knobs to 150 bushel down in the low spots. Try and adjust an N-7 combine with a 12-row corn head !! you could drive 6 MPH (full out in 2nd gear) where the poor corn was and quickly start pulling back on the stick down to 2.5 to 3.0 MPH where the good (and wet) stuff was. Good times !!!

Looks great Mike! I'm so jealous of all the field time you're getting. Lately all I have had time for is fixing vehicles. Might have something new to post on the red forum later this weekend though... We'll see.

Thanks wjohn! Here's a couple more. First one is me striking out the first land for next Saturday's plow-day, second one is our host on his Oliver 77/plowmaster 100. https://youtu.be/8m57xfVzUtk?si=PCSpcRKfVxlyfonq" rel="nofollow - https://youtu.be/8m57xfVzUtk?si=PCSpcRKfVxlyfonq https://youtu.be/tkDcaXlRiE8?si=7z5Pv-aWNlZP61MY" rel="nofollow - https://youtu.be/tkDcaXlRiE8?si=7z5Pv-aWNlZP61MY

I'd like to see a Super M with a 3 x 16's pull plow follow you, Mike. He would be losing ground every second.

Mike, I think you need a Super M in your stable. I don't have my IH 3-16 plow fixed up yet but it sure pulls that IH 470 disk well. It's a totally different tractor from the WD45 (and I love both). Even if you ignore everything else I do like the transmission gearing better on the Super M.

While I'm not actively looking for one, you never know! I do have a 400 and a 450 so they are related. I wasn't actively looking for a D-17 and I now have three....

Fair point... 400s and 450s are basically just newer and better Ms. Haven't run a 400 or newer but I will say the 1st gear shifter position on an M/SM is a little annoying, right into my left leg.

They changed the shifter when the hundred series came out, more user friendly.
Starting to feel like I'm caught up enough to get back to work on the 450. Will be great to hear that girl sputter back to life! 400 needs a little love too. Not sure what is going to get moved into the shop for the winter yet. Both 45's have some things I'd like to address....
