Leon B posted last year about broken pulley and heavier one available from Case/IH. Anyone know?

I was the last to respond on the post that Joe referenced. This year before harvest I removed the pulley and took it to a machine shop and had it magnifluxed to check for cracks. There were none. I bought this pulley from a Gleaner dealer that was also a New Holland dealer. The parts guy ordered the pulley from New Holland. I don't remember anything being said about being heavier but the pulley is standing up very well having as many hours or more of use than the original. Since New Holland and CaseIH are one company I think it's possible it could be a heavier pulley.

Yes Leon B MO found one from CIH was a little thicker. The service manager at a nearby Gleaner dealer says the pulley breaking is a harmonic balancer problem. Could well be. They all seem to be high hour machines. He broke 2 within a week on his 62. New balancer and no more trouble. I found mine to have a bad(loose and noisy) bearing on the support that carries the fan so that may as well contributed. The serpentine pulley chewed the heck out of back side of A/C pulley so 2 new pulleys,a belt and balancer and fan support are on order. It did chew on the front cover but don't think it cut through.

Haven't noticed any problem with my balancer but I do change the fan bearing every 2-3 years. With engine off and I can wiggle the fan blade in and out I know it will be time to replace the bearing soon. Did it this year.
When my pulley broke it did rub a hole in the timing cover. Think I used JB weld and some silicone to plug it to finish harvest then replaced the cover.

I put a C/IH fan support on. Not rebuildable but looks heavier. Parts guys says it not serviceable. It was cheap ($130) but it is heavyer, thicker. You have to grind material away on the timing cover side to get bolts lined up.
