I could probably get by with this as is, but how would you recommend repairing this plow lift arm attachment rod? Turned and sleeved? Weld filled and turned/ground? As-is? Other? I still need to remove that rusted pin, else some cotter keys and washers on each side of the lift arm bracket. The bracket that slides on the end is in great shape. It was on its side with this rod in the ground for 30+ years. ------------- 1952 CA13092 |

grind it to good metal, then weld up with 7018 rod as needed.. turn on the lathe or round off with a body grinder to approx size.. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

I'd probably do what Steve said, and not even bother with finding someone with a lathe. You can probably smooth the weld down well enough with a flapper disk on an angle grinder to make it work for the rest of your life. It won't be perfectly round, but it's not like it's a shaft that has a bearing riding on it. My other thought is just replacing the whole thing. I am not at my plow right now to remember if there are any threaded holes or other machining... If the OD isn't turned down smaller than a stock size, it might be pretty simple if you found a piece of round stock and cut it to length. I think it may have a flange welded to it in the middle, but can't recall for sure. None of my pictures show that area clearly. Since the bearing section is usable as is, weld filling seems like a reasonable option. ------------- 1952 CA13092 |
