Sept 2nd 2025, I will officially be open for business as Dr. Allis LLC. I've got a couple of tractors already lined up for work. Looking forward to helping keep old A-C machinery running. Anything is possible from rebuilding/repairing injection pumps, injectors, hydraulic pumps, engine OH's or even complete restorations of that tractor that used to be Grandpa's. Turn key pulling tractors are also on my "will do" list. With UPS and other shippers, it is very possible to easily ship components to/from each other. I have trucking available if needed. Address is: 3040 Eagle View Ct in Robins, Iowa 52328. Excited to getting this going in my golden years. I've figured out there is nothing good on TV these days, so I just as well be productive doing this. Thanks. 319-360-4788 cell.

congrats Dr! Finally getting out of Altorfer?? lmao! As mentioned above, you'll be covered up, so make sure you're selective. Not everyone is a good customer. Some are not worth the stress! I will say though, everyone from this page I've dealt with have been great!

That is awesome!! You have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and are clearly passionate about A-C equipment, so you may as well be making money doing what you enjoy. Best of luck with your endeavor. I’m sure you will stay covered up with work. What a valuable resource for the Allis community!!

I know what you mean about nothing good on TV and having idle time in retirement. The last few years, we have gone south for a month in the winter. After a few days I am going stir crazy!
I hope you stay active on the forum.
I wish the Dr. made house (shed?) calls to New York!
Good luck in your new venture!

As a guy who wants stuff fixed, but doesn't have the shop of technical expertise to do it himself, having such a resource would be great news. I had to depend on such a guy or else the D15 would be parked and rusting away by now.
If I could make one suggestion, if the business warrants it, be on the lookout for a young pup (or two) to train up and help you out. In that generation, good ones few and far between but I bet they are out there. Work goes faster and you can share the institutional knowledge that is drying up fast. Gives them a career opportunity and work caries on long past when we are gone.

Oh absolutely. When I worked at the Injection Service of Illinois shop in mossville/peoria, it was owned by Altorfer, so Dr and I actually were employed by the same company. Leaving the corporate world over 12 years ago to start my own shop was the best decision I've made. Self employment is not for everyone though.

I ran into something similar when I started my side business. If you're in the UK and checking out startup costs or changes in fees, https://www.yourcompanyformations.co.uk/blog/companies-house-fee-increase/" rel="nofollow - look at this site - it breaks down the current Companies House fee increase pretty clearly. I found it useful to plan my budget better and avoid surprises.

There might be a video now and then, with the help of my Red Barn Machine works Nephew or my son. We'll have to see. I see a lot of others who post A-C repair videos and some are pretty good and some aren't that great. Everyone has their own opinion on how they do things. There are ones that just seem that a video is being made to fulfill a contract like a singer has to make so many albums a year. What a waste of time to watch.

I'm still amazed at the absolute hack job videos of people "fabricating" new engines into their allis's and people think they did a great job.

Congrat's on your new endever Doc. If anything, it'll keep ya in shape! I can vouch for that. And, if you get real busy, you'll only be visiting here once in a while as I do. Sometimes there's just not enough time in the day (or evening) for that matter. Good Luck! With all of your knowledge on these Tractors, you should have a pretty successful shop & business!
