As built home bought new appliances, most going on 11-12 years aged and some not as well as others. Bought three Samsung pieces, a Three Door fridge upstairs, later a side by side for down stairs and dishwasher. Trouble with three door fridge started around year six with upper door ice maker. Would freeze up as if seals not holding and humid air entering cube forming area. Ended up after several ‘fixes’ as well a full replacement cube maker, eliminated water supply to that and shut it off. Next up had water hit floor over night at around 8 years, made certain ice maker water was disconnected dealt with cleaning the accumulating water for last couple years just under quarterly, then became monthly. Door seal surfaces are now noted as not sealing well, allows home air inside even as doors are closed, condenses water as well makes more as open and access fridge every day. Crappy to no drain systems and no way to install additional over freezer zone. So back to appliance sales, had this piece of work hauled off, replaced with a more basic SxS. Is a median zone type item, not absolutely bargain basement and not a couple grand top of line, made by Hisense, will see how it fares, so far was cooled from first plug in to compressor stop in less than 7 hours, already made a few cups of ice in freezer, still has a water dispenser wife cannot be without. Just over 1 cu ft less internal space yet seems easier to organize than French Door three door was. |

well, knock on head, the LG french door fridge was new in 2000, still works though I replaced the ice maker before amerchin19 came to town. Doors don't close properly,now. Close the right, left pops open a bit and vice versa. I HATE the 'french door' design. Always have to open both to get anything out. Freezer in the bottoms a pain in the 'lower back'. Now for anyone who wants to be a millionaire.... design/build/sell a 'good old fridge' ONE door for food, TOP one for freezer section. Then have 'computer' do 'frost free cycle' at 2 AM, when electrons are cheap(er) ! ------------- 3 D-14s,A-C forklift, B-112 Kubota BX23S lil' TOOT( The Other Orange Tractor) Never burn your bridges, unless you can walk on water |

Gots a GE side by side maybe 15 years old... Ice maker crapped out after 7-8 years and replaced... The plastic screw shaft that feeds ice out the front door crapped out yesterday.. On order from AMAZON for $20. ...... Other than that, no problems. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

Seems all the appliances have the Made in China label somewhere in the process , as all the even older Name Brand units are outsourced . 10 Years seems to be life cycle now - but before that happens some electronic board will fail twice and ice maker will die a slow death along the way . ------------- Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? | My buddy has a International Harvestor refrigerator in his shop. I'm sure it dosen't have a efficient Energy Star rating but it sure keeps the beer cold!!! Ryan |

I have an old Frigidaire at the farm that my Mom bought when they first got electricity (thanks REA). It still works! Only had to replace a few light bulbs. I don’t trust Samsung appliances at all. ------------- Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God. |

Have read about, heard about, & experienced Samsung poor quality & high dollar pricing. No more in our house. Did a new package deal of all GE appliances ~ 2005. ALL were crap. No more GE in our house. Frigidaire microwave has been been best. Whirlpool Estate 2007 garage beer refrigerator with 1 smalller door freezer up top & 1 big door frig below still going cold !!! Whirlpool 2009 side by side with freezer tray door below has been great in kitchen. Whirlpool 1995 dishwasher does great job. Crosley 1995 gas range/stove great item & still going. Speed Queen 2015 washer is simple single turn select knob, pull to start, push to stop, is best in class of agitating drum Non HE type. Clothes are cleaner. Cycles are quicker. Great WI company for parts/supplies/tech info. I’ve replaced trans -lifetime warranty, so free. Replaced drive belt. Replaced water mix solenoid valves. None were bad jobs. Before it we had an High Efficiency washer. I don’t remember brand, but it was crap. Major job to replace drive shaft & bearings. Took forever to cycle & clothes were not as clean. Rusted inside drum area bad too. 2nd shaft/bearing job never got done. Went to landfill. |

Took forever to cycle & clothes were not as clean This is what gets me going... HIGH EFFIC wash machine takes 3 times as long to wash cloths as 1990 model..... Dishwasher takes 180 MINUTES !!! 3 HOURS to wash dishes ! ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

Yes, cycle times are crazy long on HE appliances. Wife & I were rerunning some uncleaned items to get clean or just hand wash them. HE took 2hrs+ to wash. Before we bought our current dishwasher, I researched online about good dishwasher & found the 1990s to have received the most reliability. This Whirlpool has normal wash (1hr?) or quick wash (35 min?). And we never rerun anything. |
