There was an esrlier post that talked about a support that had to be added to the C's because the steering shaft mover around too much. Does anyone have a picture of this support, and was it installed by dealers after the sale as an AC authorized repair?

In my post " brought home another one" there is one on my 1940 C which someone commented was not original.
I'll bump the posting.

Thank you, Lonnie, that was the exact post I was thinking of. I appreciate the bump, and Chuck, thanks for the repost of the pic.

Murph-NC had indicated, "Looks like someone added the more modern steering arm support bracket", and then later said, "On a related note, my '41 C has a rather unique home-made support for the rear steering shaft.", and then tomdavison's comment was, "The steering support was a fix that was offered in the mid-40s.  The steering sector could not be bolted tight enough to prevent the steering sector from moving.  We had this trouble on our 42 C and we added this support to it. It became a standard item on later Cs."

It really sounded to me like there was a factory deficiency that was originally fixed by the farmer, and then AC came up with a retrofit as a repair. I was trying to get more information, or wondering if I misinterpreted the dialogue here. I find this kind of stuff fascinating.
