Been writing on a few other Forums of late, as to Repairs for machines and to a couple RV Sites where the Typical Repairs problems are not so much tough to fix but diagnosis skills are bad.

With that, the typical problems are electrical and repairs range from "I Changed the Plug In but still does not work" or "I Ran a New Wire but still blows fuses" where after directly questions and instructing how to check system continuity they found a bad connector or a corrosion spot or as in the second choice they did NOT remove the 'Old, BAD Wire' where the short still existed and still popped fuses.

Anyone else been tapped for issues as this?

I have read your postings on IRV2, and for me, ‘automotive electrical’ and I are barely on speaking terms. Guess that goes way back to the days of IHC having wire harnesses with each wire being the same color, but with those lovely numbers stamped on each wire. As for other forums, some can be very helpful for the shade tree mechanic.

IHC, Freightliner, several others used Single Color wires with stamped on numbers or worse, TAPE Tags!!. Been thru that a LOT. Had one on IRV2 that could not follow a Color Code or the simple wiring diagram for RV Plugs, sent BOTH to him as Pictures, still could not get it. Come to hear his problem was NOT the trailer but his Brake Light Switch on his pickup.

the biggest problem i have found in trying to help people is they dont LISTEN... You give them 3 ideas, they try ONE then come back and say "thats not it"..."what do i do now".... How about trying idea 2 and 3 ???

tell people electric is like water - you need supply and drain - a problem in either leads to problems somewhere . wire size is like pipe size - need more at end use increase the size , need return it needs to flow to it . Clean and clear supply or return .
If blowing a fuse to much draw - look for leak , the problem will not fix itself .

trying to find parasitic draw in 2000 GMC - been trying to chase it down - 850 miliamp draw on system . had local mechanic work on it , he came up with bad tank fuel pump blew fuse on ECM - said it was fixed (still arguing over bill) as his $100 a hour and charging me a hour to drain tank and hour to put fuel back into tank - I could have dumped the gas and would have been cheaper .
Still have draw and same reading .
On 2010 GMC I just bought it had a draw also and traced it to snow plow relays , one stayed on as was wired into power feed so relays were always under power for lights and plow motor .
On 2000 the plow hardware is direct and no relays in system just a switch to change from truck lights to plow lights . Now wondering if that truck has drain in instrument panel not letting ECM go to sleep .
