| Does anyone know of anybody who restores/works on Allis-Chalmers in Iowa? I have a 1958 D17 that was originally purchased by my Grandparents. It has been at a shop in Iowa (JD Guy) for 7 years! Seems to be one excuse after another. Tractor has been restored but he is constantly telling me something else is now wrong. This time it is a rear main seal. I'm at the point where I just want to get the tractor back and take to someone who actually knows what they are doing. For clarification, this shop was very reputable, and he has done a ton of tractors through the years, but for some reason mine is not cooperating with him. Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

| Along those lines I'm having a hard time finding the two pto shaft seals that go between the transmission and hydraulic reservoirs on my A/C 180. The National Seal # is 50058. An agco # would be great. Thanks in advance, Clay P. |

| I would love a total restoration D17Brown, but I'm mostly looking to make the 180 a sound tractor that is part of my ranch operation. I tore into this tractor expecting to replace some seals and discovered the high side of the pd was burnt and had warped driven plates. So the power director is on my bench waiting on parts for the rebuild. Also a good 3 ring bearing retainer has replaced my original. I wish I was in the IA area due to more Allis availability. Here in SoTx they're far and few between when it comes to 180's and 185's. I love the A/C's history and we had ties to the proving ground at Allis via the late Larry G. Family and friends in our area used to test Allis tractors here. The hot summer weather was a good test in contrast to ya'lls cold winters. Thanks to all who have given me support on this forum. I am in the far northwest corner but the shop I work for would work on it if you would be able to get it up here or pay us to get and deliver it ------------- hi my names dan, I am a young guy. i have a problem, i prefer my tractors orange and my clutches mechanical, thanks for letting me share |

| I have an Allis Chalmers Back With a 816B engine. I want to take off the injection pump but before I do I want to set the engine timing to Top Dead Center. I have the service manual but there is no reference to indicate TDC timing marks with out taking the timing cover off. Is there any body out there that can direct me to the solution. I did find reference to the keyway of the crankshaft gear to be straight up. Is the Crankshaft Pully oriented in the same way with it's Keyway? |
