In a chump move by MLB Commissioner, Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe Jackson, and several other Chicago Black Sox have been reinstated and are now eligible for the Hall of Fame. I guess my problem is with them being reinstated without the possibility of knowing it.

"Obviously, a person no longer with us cannot represent a threat to the integrity of the game," Manfred wrote in a letter to attorney Jeffrey M. Lenkov, who petitioned for Rose's removal from the list Jan. 8. "Moreover, it is hard to conceive of a penalty that has more deterrent effect than one that lasts a lifetime with no reprieve.

The Hall of Fame is to remember those that were the best. But when the rules are so flagrantly violated by Rose, I see no reason to do anything that make him feel good. So a bad situation has been closed by compromise. So both side can be unhappy. Now back to ignoring sports for the most part.

I liked his aggressive style when he was active. Him, and Johnny Bench were very strong in the Red's camp. I was a Cardinal's fan in those days growing up in St. Louis, but no longer pay attention to any professional sports.

I can't agree with he cheated. He bet against his team in a series that he was fairly certain his team couldn't win. He did this while being a player/manager and, if I remember correctly, hit over .300 in that series with stolen bases and no errors. He's the all-time hits leader, he should be in the hall of fame.

Yet when you watch whatever game, tonight, what do you see while the pitcher is winding up?  A billboard for a gambling website!  You can bet on anything, now!  I guess its OK when MLB does it, but not when individuals do it...Wink
