Just wondering if anyone could tell me what the tooth count should be on 4th gear (input shaft) on a 180/185?  I have two transmissions, and one gear has 36 teeth and the other gear has 42 teeth.  Thanks.

70256571   19 tooth with 15 coupling teeth.   The only one I know of on a 180
70245780 20 tooth 20 coupling - first 190
70245722  19 tooth
70246407 19 with 12 coupling
look on the input gear to see if there is a snap ring groove cut in - if so it is a D series.

If you have 36 and 42 teeth on the input shaft to the transmission (direct drive/4th gear) it is custom made. They are usually two parts: a gear (36 or 42) and an input shaft with splines and a snap ring groove to hold on the gear on those splines. A gear that large will not fit thru the input shaft bearing hole in the trans case. A gear that large is assembled from the rear being slid onto the input shaft while the shaft is being installed into the trans case from the front.

I’m trying to attach a photo of the gear, but the file size is too big

Look at top pic. See where it says actual size at bottom of pic. Tap that and it will give you the choices you see in middle pic. Choose medium and use that. I find that I usually try twice to get it to load.
