is the wd45 diesel cylinder head , and the d17 262 in the series 1 cylinder head the  same

They look identical but question is are they?
28 years ago I had a 17 and 45 head set side by side and they looked like twins, but I did not measure anything at the time, nor take any pics and now that memory is not so great anymore.
Would have to look up in the wd45 Diesel and the D17 Diesel manuals to see if valves were different and any other things, injector tips were different numbers if I recall correctly.

I would bet they are inter changeable not identical. Likely different casting #.

When i was looking for a head for my ‘57 D17 diesel, i was told they were not the same. Casting # on my engine is 4507716, if that helps at all. I don’t know what the difference would be, as they looked strikingly similar to me, in pictures. The injectors not being the same between the 230 and 262 could very well be the difference in head castings. Maybe someone else can answer that.

According to AGCO parts books, the cylinder head itself is a different p/n. But, the valves and guides and head gasket and energy cells are the same between them.

thier was a wd45diesel on aution about fiftee miles from me today   the tractor is beat to death been drivin past it for years  thats why i was wondering went for 1200.00 al four tires  have held air

If its like the gas  motors the water pump holes are different,later models were larger.
