I also tested my temp gauge and new sensor. I think at most the gauge could be off by about 15-20 degrees. I used a Laser based thermometer and pointed it at the sensor end. After running for 5 minutes, it showed 136 degrees. Based upon my estimate on the Gauge it was reading around 140-150. Hard to estimate it exactly. Good news is that I don't have to calibrate the Temp Sensor and Gauge. Later this summer, I will use my laser thermometer and figure out differences. It is not unusual for engine to get to 210 or so in 95 degree day.

I understand that if I need to dial in the temp, I will have to use additional resistors in parallel to lower the resistance. We will see. Right now, I am going to avoid the calibration step for the engine temp.

So, looks like the new combo gauge for temp/fuel is going to work out.

I would say your temp gauge is spot on. Using an infant red point-and-shoot temp reader gun would surely be a little bit less on the outside of the thermostat housing (or wherever you are pointing to) than directly sensing in the coolant itself.

What kinda set of gauges did you pick up?

The gauge came from Agco. It is a perfect match to the original factory gauge on the looks side. The posts on the back are completely different. Old gauge appears to have resistors built into the gauge. It is not that way on the new one. I hope I don't have to calibrate but we will see in about a month once hay season gets going.
