I'm rebuilding power steering pump on D-14, will this need to be primed? If so, what is the process? Thanks

You need to have something on the gears and bearings and not dry. Some light grease (LubriPlate) or 80-90 wt oil will work to help get it primed.

I had mine apart 2 months ago. Before putting the frame rail back on I put some oil in the pump at the sump pipe inlet. Turned the engine over a few times and put more in and then quickly screwed the pipe back before the oil ran out. That worked just fine as my power steering primed and started working within 5 seconds of starting the tractor. Looking back, the best way to get more oil in there would be to put your finger over the end of the pipe and fill it with oil, and then screw it into the pump. Would definitely have more oil at the pump even though you will loose some while screwing the sump pipe back in. It’s kind of awkward because you have to get the sump pipe in the bolster fitting as well. Regardless, it should prime quickly.
