Anyone know if the points are cast steel or cast iron? Could plate them if they can be welded on. $50 bucks + -

If I had to guess id say they are steel. Strike an arc with a 7018 rod and you will know pretty quick
If the weld lays dowm they are steel. If it bubbles up they are cast

I can see they are a casting. The question was cast what? Iron or steel?

The note in my system at work says cast point for steel use 71364963V. But that part number supersedes back to 71364963 without the v that just says cast point. I’d assume cast iron.

I welded AR steel plates on the bottom of a set of mine on a steel snout hugger head.  I used ER70SD4 wire in my MIG, they"re still on the head today
