Hello, I have a 7045 with the top bearing in the steering column that has failed. I have the steering wheel off and was trying to get the first snap ring removed to try and get to the top bearing. Either I’m not going at this correctly or the snap ring is just being a hard head. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like a regular snap ring to me. Just one of those dastardly kind with no holes for snap ring pliers. I spray them with penitrant and have several sharp screw drivers. I get it started at one end and as it comes out of the groove i insert morevscrew drivers in the gap until it works out all the way around and pops out

I swear A-C owned a snap ring factory. It was called "The Impossible to remove snap ring" Company.

If you heat it red hot opposite the opening it will lose its temper and you can usually bend it and get it out. But you will have to get a new one
