My friend has an allis Chalmers tri axel trailer for sale, mobile home axels, brakes did not work, about 20 ft long, pintle hitch, has title.

Think it was made for small dozers.

Any way you could post some photos, curious as to what it looks like. You say "mobile home axles", were they switched out, or were they OEM?

Been discussed before. Here’s a link to it. Most pics in this old post are NLA, but there is one pic at the very end of post. https://www.allischalmers.com/forum/allis-chalmers-trailer_topic155916.html" rel="nofollow - https://www.allischalmers.com/forum/allis-chalmers-trailer_topic155916.html

I'm wondering if the axles are really mobile home axles or the open center wheels (like mobile home axles) instead of the conventional "Budd Style) rims? Many of the trailers of that vintage had the open center wheels.

OEM, they "look" like mobile home axels according to owner.   Its been 20 yrs  since I last laid eyes on it but  the photo supplied by 7060  looks  correct.

It appears the "trailer axle" and the 14.5 inch Tires were original equip on the Alllis version of this trailer.

A neighbor converted the old hub style to the newer hubs. I believe he told me that he was able to get the hubs from a local RV salvage yard.
As far as the electric brakes not working, it's very easy, and quite inexpensive, to buy a whole "loaded" backing plate, with new magnets, shoes and all hardware. Whenever I have to change brake shoes on a trailer, I always change the whole assembly.
