Anybody know where a guy can get some cheap TNT. Don't want any of those quiet Dynamite booms. I figure About 3 AM outta be a good time.   Anyway have I said, "I hate snow". I drove in it for 13 years 24-7 delivering LP gas and Fuel oil. 9 times outta 10 when the call came at 3AM, I had driven right by the home less than 4 days ago. They would not let me keep their tank full when the roads were good. I got to be very good at putting on truck tire chains in the dark. I finally got myself a big ol flashlight that I kept in one of the tool boxes on the side of the truck. Fill the tank, go down in the basement and make sure the furnace comes on before you leave. If you leave and the furnace doesn't automatically come on, it's always the propane delivery truck drivers fault. Never again.

Got 2"+, started friday night ended sat about 8am. Never got over 28, it's 21 now @ 10pm. They predicted a trace for us. It's Our second snow event this season.
Tom, I feel for you putting on chains in the dark. Done that too often on snow plow trucks before they went to radial tires. Operator call in with a problem, usually they were stuck, I'd get a callout.
I never ran out of LP. My LP guys always filled my 250 G house tank when they went past to fill the 3-1000 G tanks at the church & parsonage a mile away.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Tom I hear ya.
-20 deg. Saturday nite 11:30.
Phone rings
Me: hello
Caller: is the XXX Oil company
Me: yes it is, this is Mr XXX, what do you need?
Caller: our house is cold, we are out of oil, we can’t reach our normal delivery company, can you please help us out, we are getting really cold.
Me: can you wait till first thing in the morning? I can be there before church.
Caller: I don’t think so, it’s down to 55 degrees in the house, we’ve had no heat all day.
Me: ok, give your address,(I get it) I can be there in an hour.
Caller: God Bless you Mr XXX, your a lifesaver.
Me: can you do me a favor?
Caller: sure, anything.
Me: I need full payment for 200 gallons of fuel, that’s my minimum delivery, can you do that?
Caller: absolutely Mr XXX, no problem.
Me: ok, great, I’m on my way.
Hour or so later, I arrive, knock on the door to make sure I’m at the correct house.
Husband comes to the door, and explains the whole situation again, BUT!! says they only have enough $$ to pay for $50.00 of fuel. I tell the the husband you’re wife agreed to pay for a full delivery, he responds ‘she shouldn’t have done that’ we buy our fuel from YYY company. I respond, as I’m here, pay me the $50.00, I’ll pump in the oil, come back with the receipt, and be on my way.

This scenario happened to on average about 3-4 times every winter for the 12 years I owned my fuel delivery company. Of those late nite ‘no heat’ calls from people who were not customers of mine, maybe 1 per season would become a regular customer. The others, even though I would put them on my mailing list for a calendar, coupons for sales, etc., I would never hear from them again.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.
