howdy,, I picked up one of those manual air hose reels at a sale and only'ist issue is,, one of the bearings for the reel itself has froze up. It has a 100 foot 3/8" hose on it that looks to be in good shape. It is a No Name,,prolly an earlier Harbor freight model as no tag on it. I disassembled the one side and bearing is froze up and am getting some weird dimensions with my calipers. The bore is .825 The OD of bearing is 2.500 The width is 1.000 Called a bearing supply and they could NOT match those numbers to anytyhing,,,,WTF,,,,?? The Only'ist unmber that is important on this application is the BORE as it is press fit into what appears to be a 1/2" thread pipe nipple,,,?? Anybody got an idea which bearing I could use in it's place,,??

Odds are real good it's metric ? .825 = 20.5 mm ( say 20mm , real common...) 2.5 = 63.5 mm (say 63 or 64 mm ??) 1=25.4mm (say 25 mm, real common ) sad thing is I have one in the garage somewhere, I'll go check, report back later... Jay it's later. dang thing is BNIB and I'd have to tear it apart to see the bearings. I'll have to think about it..might turn into a Humpty Dumpty..WHY did I do that deal...

Hey Jay,,many Thanks for the offer but you don't need to tear yours down,, As I said the ONLY part of the bearing in this application that is critical is the bore measurement, which I calipered as .825 and also calipers as close to 21 MM,,? The OD of the bearing does not touch anything as what locks the bearing to the hose assy is the width of the bearing at the bore area,,,,,clear as mud,,,,?? I have not had any luck finding a list of ball bearings that list the dems I need,,,,,,

jay, that is a VERY ODD size bearing... the bore is about 21 mm and the OD is about 63 mm and the width would be 25 mm... Dont know where they came up with that... Standard bore is 20 mm and the OD would be 52 mm and width about 12 .... If you want the OD to be 63 ( 62 is standard) your going to get a 30 mm bore and a 16 mm width.. That is 62 mm ( 2.44 inch) ... 30 mm bore (1.18 inch) and the width 16mm ( 6.30 inch).. I am wondering if you could use a 30mm bore and make a sleeve on the lathe to get back to .825 inch.... There are NO BEARINGS that are 1 inch wide, unless you get two 12mm bearings and mount together (.945 inch).... With that being said, here is a "STANDARD" common bearing with a 30 mm bore that could be sleeved.. but NOTHING is 1 inch wide ?? What else could you do ?  ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

another option would be to buy TWO 25 mm bore bearing ( 1 inch) and make a .087 inch thick sleeve to go inside the bore to get to .825 inch...... these would be 12 mm thick so two would be 24 mm (or .960 inch) wide. ...... if the OD makes no difference. Im looking for STANDARD COMMON BEARINGS that are CHEAP due to quantities.

if that sleeve is too thin, or you want more PINCH on the width... This 30 mm bore (1.18 inch ) would need a sleeve about 3/16 thick and give you a little more PINCH on the width at 13 x 2 = 26 mm or (1.023 inch) ..... package of TWO ..2. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

| Take a syringe and slip it between the seal and the housing fill it with free all inject it in and wiggle it itll loosten then inject lucas oil in to it. Itll last a long time. |

Hey Steve,,I'm assuming you directed your response to me instead of ole Jay,,,? I'm the guilty one bringing up these oddball numbers in search for two replacement bearings for this project. I'm confident of my caliper readings with a Starret inch caliper as well as my Draper Metric caliper.,,, where I've prolly messed up is my description of the parts,,,,  The bore is .825 and was pressed onto what looks like a 1/2" threaded pipe nipple that was used to center the wheel holding the rolled up air hose. Since the air hose storage compartment only turns as fast as you spin it by hand with the side handle,, I'm ok with machining a sleeve to take up the space difference from OD of pipe nipple to the ID of a standard bore bearing like you mention. The bore has to be able to "Lock" the hose storage wheel assy "TO THE 1/2" NIPPLE" in order to pull in and roll up the air hose. I'm wondering if a bearing with a bore of slightly over the .825 and with a wide enough flange to drill and tap an allen set screw to lock onto the pipe nipple,,,???

JEEEZE SteveM,,,,,,I might want to do just that on my little 109,,,,,, Actually Steve,,that right there is what I was looking for just did not know what to call it and "Whatchamacallit" prolly wouldn't have worked,,,huh,,,??  BUT,,,,WAIT,,WAIT,,hold the press,,I was having issues with my Desk Top so I have it going thru a System Restore to get them nuisance adds I started to get bout 2 weeks ago,,,,, Fired up my Laptop and LO & Behold after punching in "Manual Hose Reels" ,,,there is the exact reel that I got,,,!!!! It Is made by HANAAY Model 1514-17-18. It includes a full parts breakdown but they use their own part numbers with no cross to standard numbers,,!! HMMmmmmm??????

wow, been all over the net now.... seems it's a 'flange bearing'.....and everyone want $45 or more for it. 9902-1200 might be the Hanney part number......
