Well I replaced the injectors and still have the knock.
Looks like a costly repair bill coming.Something is unhappy.
Just for the hell of it would a gas engine from a G combine
bolt in without too much work?I have one sitting in the shed
that runs fine.
The tractor is only going to be used a few hours a year for light (10
foot disc and cultivator in sandy soil) tillage ,bushcutting ,and baling.Yes
I know the fuel consumption will be awful.Yes there will be less horsepower but hopefully it would be enough.
A diesel expert will be here tomorrow to diagnose the problem. If the repair is affordable
I will get the engine fixed , that is my first choice.

In my humble opinion, if the engine is toast, you’d be better off getting a different tractor, if you choose not to fix the engine you have.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Before I started tearing into it id check the torsional damper on the front of the crank. Ive got a 8070 thatvI would have sworn had a rod knock
Pulled the pan checked the bearings looked brand new. After a lot of questions on the forum we decided it must be the damper
That was it
