I have a 1966 D-21 with a non- turbo engine. Has been running fine, but now will run for a few seconds then quit. I replaced the inline filter under tank (twice) and spin on is new. I pulled off the spin imediately after it quit one time and it was full of fuel. I checked power to the shut off on pump and it is getting power while key is on. Air filter is new. It will start right back up after it quits. Does this mean my problem is with the injection pump? The pump is a Stanadyne, DCGFC629-2AG. Thanks for any help

flex ring inside pump is breaking down and the pieces are plugging the return fitting in top cover of inj pump. You can take the fitting out, remove the ball and it should run, this is a temporary bandaid. It will need serviced soon. You can verify this by loosening the bolt on side of pump with 1/2" wrench, and let the fuel leak out the side. It stays running it confirms the return is plugged making it lose power and dying.

...it will not get better, only worse. Time to start getting educated on steps for pump removal/installation. The rebuild should last longer than you.

I have nothing but good things to say about Ed’s work. Right man for the rebuild for sure.
