Went to caseIH dealer to get points for my WD. Some IH tractors use the same Delco distributor. They swiped my card and handed me the receipt and it was $85! No thanks I said. Napa was $40 and that's nuts but it's what I settled for. Used to be $4.95 at local fleet farm, granted that was 20 years ago but still crazy.

Just installed points, condenser, (capacitor) into my old crane truck last week and that was just over $26.00 for the pair. Delco-Remy distributor. When I still didn't have a good, hot spark, I replaced the coil for $38.00. Yes prices are way up on these parts now from what they used to be, but the quality still seems to be there. I use Napa/Echlin ignition parts and have for years. Not a single failure for me but I'm due for sure.....

NAPA
All the way !!!!
they have 2 lines of points and condenser.
Get the better ones...
They may come from the same wear house as other parts stores... Not sure but I always have good luck with NAPA....
I have had several GAS tractors over the RECENT years that just quit. First one gave me frustration. Check voltage , point gap ETC. it was just a bad capacitor.
2nd time happened on different tractor. Just quit. Changed capacitor. Had it going in 30 min.
NAPA !!!!

Condensers/capacitors are a very weak link in vintage ignition systems using new parts. Most often overlooked also. I have a couple of known good ones I keep in my tool box just for testing purposes when I have something that has no spark.

For that price you could do Electronic Ignition for a bit more

I wonder if they were a good quality? I know the NAPA ones are and will last. Quality has been a very major issue with points and condensors in the last 10-15 years.

I’m with Charlie, ever since he installed the electronic ignition on our D15 it runs smooth as butter. I don’t care if it’s Napa, I’ve got bad ones from everywhere. Go pertronix and forget about it. My WD is next on the list for a pertronix upgrade.

I've had mixed results from the NAPA. Not their fault I'm sure, but the Blue Point condensers have been about 75% successful. Last time, the D17 ran perfectly for many months, then started developing odd missing under various throttle and loads. Good wiring, new points, etc. I finally gave in, as I said I would never give up the original points. Installed the Pertronix with new coil and wires, and it runs perfectly. Somebody, somewhere in Asia cannot figure out how to make reliable condensers. So I gave up and went electronic. I still don't like that if you leave the key on for any period, it will kill the module, but except for that, it was easy to install and works perfectly. I would prefer points/condenser for their simplicity, but today, the parts are just no longer reliable.

Common parts back in the day when the dealer may have been a hardware store and auto parts store. You probably didn't notice a mark up like today. But now a $50 item marked up to $100 because it says Agco or CNH. Nuts bolts spark plugs. Needed a filter for the lawnmower for 23hp Kawasaki, went to the local farm store and got the Kawasaki filter in lawn and garden. Took that to the auto department and crossed the part number to a Fram filter and it was 1/3 the cost. I know some one might debate the Fram being as good as the Kawasaki.

Couple years ago an area farmer needed a turbo for a Class chopper with a Mercedes engine. He had it at a local independent shop that has a fleet of dump trucks. They checked prices with Class. Then got prices from their suppliers for truck parts and ended up finding a turbo for 1/3 what Class's price was.

NAPA and CaseIH say made in Mexico on the boxes. Probably come out of same plant.
