Good evening all. Does anyone know where I might be able to have the hydraulic cylinders from my 1951 G overhauled? The rods have some minor pitting and I am not sure about the condition of the cylinders either. I am in the middle of a restoration and want to make sure everything is in good working order and no leaks. Any information would be appreciated.

Any hydraulic shop should be able to rebuild them.
On the minor pitting, would you want them rechromed or are they "good enough" as they are?

I just rebuilt a small cylinder for a friend of mine, the rod had some pitting. I suggested a rechromed, time was an issue getting it back in service so I just polished it out the best I could.

Perfect? No. Working well? He says it's working well for now.

not a lot to the cylinders, no machined bore except for the top tube section where the nut tightens against the ā€œVā€ packing and the two bushings the rod rides on are. The rest is just pipe or rough cast. There is no piston or a bore for it to ride on.
