I bought myself 1 the other day. It needed the motor rewound and a 3" wheel. Motor is done and wheel is on it's way. This is one of the ones every blacksmith had in his shop back in the 1960,70's, etc. I want to buy a new blade for it. Do you fellows have any recommendations on a blade. I'm gonna order the rubber band "tires" for the steel drive wheels from Amazon

I have an HF Wells industrial bandsaw and have found Lenox band saw blades to be about the best if correctly selected for the job at hand. I've ordered from here in the past as well and coolant and such:

I completely agree with Codger. Lenox are very good if the proper blade is selected.

I had two of those 'offshore' 4b6 bandsaws but do to the move now only one...
I've used the 'bimetal' blades from one mfr(name I forget..)  for 30 years and never had to adjust the 'track' of the blade.Used to cut a LOT of steel years ago, today not so much.
bottom line, buy a quality blade,keep 2 on the shelf !!!

"Morse" brand saw blades are decent to good also and more easily available at the home centers, (around here).

I always run coolant so blades last much longer than dry cutting saws.

What band saws do you guys use?
I have looked at this one: https://www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-7-x-12-1-hp-metal-cutting-bandsaw/g0561 " rel="nofollow - https://www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-7-x-12-1-hp-metal-cutting-bandsaw/g0561  ;
Like the price point but have seen some negative reviews to it being China Built

Looked at this JET model: https://www.amazon.com/Jet-414560-HVBS-712D-Deluxe-Bandsaw/dp/B01C9TVZTO/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=37JQJ4WX9U4A3&keywords=jet+bandsaw&qid=1687780243&sprefix=jet+bandsaw%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1" rel="nofollow - https://www.amazon.com/Jet-414560-HVBS-712D-Deluxe-Bandsaw/dp/B01C9TVZTO/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=37JQJ4WX9U4A3&keywords=jet+bandsaw&qid=1687780243&sprefix=jet+bandsaw%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

More money but probably a little better quality

What do you guys think?

I bought a 14 inch vertical wood band saw about 40 years ago. ($200)... Built a jackshaft with couple pillow block bearings and a couple BIG and SMALL pulleys.. Reduced the speed 15 to 1 or better i think.... It was 14 inch wheels and uses a 92- 94 inch blade... I agree with the BI-METAL blades... i dont use coolant...... i need the standup because i cut a lot of smaller parts / sheet metal , and that cant be clamped in the horizontal unit..... but i guess some of them tilt up and you can use the table..

they make some similar now that have gear box and reduced speed for metal... Pushing $1500- 2000.. i think.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
