Hope some one can help or give some insight. My wife wants to get a drone to use at our cabin. She wants one that will show the area below the drone in real time, not a video or pic to view later if that makes sense. We know nothing about drones and want to purchase something that will do what she wants without jeopardizing the cost of a future tractor. That's my hope. Can't find any help local and was wondering if any one has experience with them?

I would highly recommend looking at the DJI Mini 3. You use your smart phone for viewing in realtime. Any pictures are saved to the smart phone, while videos are saved to a micro SD card on the drone. The Mini 3 is very stable, easy to fly and has very good obstacle avoidance built in. I have the Mini 2, but wish I purchased the Mini 3 instead.

My neighbor and good friend is a realtor. They use them to view very remote, hard to get to spots.
They’ve had a few and know the ins and outs.
I’ll ask him.

Another thought is hiring a drone operator to get you what you need if that would work?
My neighbor also does that for people.

A Gyrocopter would give a birds eye view of the action as it happened and some Claymores to drop would remove anything she seen she didn't like the looks of.

I shot one down once that was hovering over my place! I think if you get a bigger one, you gotta do what the FAA says about them.

I bought 1 last fall. It's got so many cameras on it, my grandson wanted to nail it to a tree and use it for a souped up trail camera. Needless to say that idea got nixed. I haven't had a chance to fly it yet. I'm gonna get a chance to practice with it and I think I'll take pictures of our farmers markets, etc. I'll probably have a little fun tormenting that darn cat. Darn thing is always underfoot attempting to trip me.

bigall The Mini 3 has some different options. Which one would do what you suggested? She wants to be able to fly it around the fields, see the wildlife (see what the resident idiot may be doing) just a recreational thing to do. I'm sure the grandkids would love it also. Our daughter works for a video production company in DesMoines and she has given us some ideas from her people. But we would like to find someone that would show us how they work etc. Not much luck yet.

Seams like you just need to spend the money and turn the grandkids lose.LOL I don't know what it is but some parts of aging, are just hard to over come. You know the stories of a old farmer in the 1930's yelling WOO, WOO at the new fan dangle contraption we know as a tractor as he is headed over the cliff. A new truth about the wonders of childhood I see is, if it is invented (or generally becomes available) when you are young it is very very easy to learn how to use. The older you are the more trouble you have learning it. Good luck picking the right drone.

Based on what your saying you want to do, I would suggest this one: https://store.dji.com/product/dji-mini-3?from=store-nav&vid=128001" rel="nofollow - https://store.dji.com/product/dji-mini-3?from=store-nav&vid=128001

With the fly more combo, you get two extra batteries, and a charger, that will charge all three.

Shameless, you do realize shooting down a drone, is a felony, and can get you serious prison time and fines.

What you have suggested is what she has been looking at. Thanks much for the input. I think Shameless may have just been kidding. Maybe?

The DJI Mini's, weigh less then the 250 gram limit, therefore they don't need to be registered with the FAA.
