Recently bought a 1944 Allis Chalmers Model C narrow wheel tractor with a Woods L59 belly mower. Tractor needs 1/4 to 1/2 choke to run correctly.  I figured it had an air leak or carburetor needing rebuilt so decided to take care of it. When I removed the carburetor I noticed it had 2 different mounting bolts. The front had a typical 5/16-18 bolt that threaded into the carburetor flange, the aft bolt was much smaller with a nut on the bottom side. Never thought much about it since I was going to replace all the hardware anyway. I rebuilt the carburetor, attempted to test fit it today and noticed I could not get the second bolt installed, it was off 1/2 hole. I removed the carburetor, measured the mounting flange center to center at 2.50 inch. I measured the intake manifold center to center and it was 2.25 inch. WTF!!! No wonder this thing ran like crap. When I rebuilt the carburetor, the rebuild instructions show a cap, not an air screw adjustment for the main jet. I'm assuming someone replaced this carburetor with something else, however I'm not positive on this. It is a Zenith carburetor. The numbers the top is 213348 and 9707R. I see a 3B stamped on the side of the float bowl.  Any help is appreciated. This tractor has been Frankensteined by previous owners. I have many issues to deal with.

A 9707 is off a WC tractor.... Have seen that before... You may have to change the throat tube to smaller ... and change a jet to get it to run right.......... When you "CHOKE" it, you are cutting down on the air because the VENTURI is too large of diameter for a 125 cid engine  (WC was 201 )

I dont remember exactly, but im thinking on the B or C version, the venturi is about 9/16 or 5/8 inch bore ??  ......... see what yours measures.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Thank you very much for the response. I asked the previous owner about maintenance and he told me absolutely nothing. I will be replacing the carburetor with the proper one for this tractor and resell this 9707 in the future. I appreciate your help.

Some of the popular B/C Zenith Carburetors are the 212844, 212845, 216937,224641,225621 or 622.  The popular Marvel Schebler Carburetors would be a TSX 154, TSX-305, TSX 470. The CA Carb usually was a TSX-486, or the popular TSX670. All should fit the B,C,CA manifold.  As Steve mentioned, that 9707 fits the WC, and WD equipped with the 201 engine......  HTH
