Heat addition results in expansion within a closed vessel and a corresponding rise in pressure results. Must have been some really hot water used washing the truck......

Truck looks good and should be a fun project.

That is a beauty! Is the engine pictured above going in it? Did it originally have the 216 inline 6 like the 49's? Dad replaced the one in his '49 with a 292 out of a "63 C60.

People in other parts of the country can't fathom how unusual it is to find one in this good of shape in PA.  That thing is beautiful. I wouldn't change a thing. I'm not even a bowtie guy.

Lot of them replaced that old poured babet rod engine with Power Glide engine from 51 or so or a later 6 cylinder .

I wouldn'd change that for anything but a 292 or a 302 GMC.

You're right Harv!  Let's see.... "Chevelle". Nope, that don't say Ford on it. And how bout' "El Camino"? Nope. Doesn't have a blue oval on it either! Oh yeah, then there's that loud square body Chebby P/U and that has a dang bowtie in the grille. And that sweet lookin' 46' pick-em-up gotta' dang "Chevrolet" on the front of it too! Yup! He's outta' the closet fir' sure!!  LMAO!!

Golly, that one is in great shape!  leave it as-is (mebbie straighten out the grille) but go through the brakes, suspension, and drivetrain, make her a run and driver in 'original clothing'.
