Whats every ones favorite fluid to free up a stuck CA engine and how much do I need to pour in to get it past the top of the piston so it get down to the ring or are they flat top pistons ? Thanks Dave

I mix 50/50 acetone and ATF shaken well in a plastic squirt bottle. I fill the cylinders to the spark plug hole and allow an overnight sitting between applications. Do this twice and then rock the vehicle back and forth in low gear with another tractor, (I use a skid steer loader) loading, and unloading the driveline gingerly.

Once the engine is rotating, change the engine oil and proceed with starting procedures.

Remove the head and oil pan. Removing the head will allow you to see what you are up against. You will also be able to see any improvement in the soaking process. I also drop the oil pan - when fluid starts dripping out the bottom, you will know progress is being made.

I use 50/50 ATF and acetone. Don't rush things. My D14 sat outside for 20 years uncovered - a huge rusted mess. Knocked the sleeves and pistons out as one and did a major overhaul. Runs like a champ now!

If you have (or can borrow) a borescope, it will let you know if you are wasting your time. Often the sleeve is so rusted, you could soak it forever and it wouldn't loosen.

I bought an inexpensive bore scope from Amazon that transmits the picture to my cell phone. I can't remember how much, but I know it was less than $20.
