what is the difference between the two, both not many made and dont see very many, Which one is worth more? What is the value of a 918 complete with hoe and running? Not familiar with either,

I believe the 918 was built using the 180 farm tractor (I have the specs from when they were new), whereas the 816 was an industrial design fresh off the drawing boards at the time. The 918 is really quite big and not too suited for smaller work, very few of them are to be seen any more. As for a current fair price it probably depends a lot on what shape it is in, by a good check up, and how badly you wish to get your hands on one, I wouldn't pay too much for a 918. Used parts are few and hard to come by. An 816 in good shape is a valuable machine in my opinion as I used to own and operate two of them. A bit heavy for soft ground but it has lots of power to go with 'the beef'. Quite adaptable to big and small jobs. A lot of the parts are general in nature, not too much has to be a specific A-C part.

The 918 is based on the OneNinety tractor. They are big and look clumsy. 816 and 715 are component machines. I've had a 715 and 715B for 45 years. Good machines.

918 is a 1 1/2 yard bucket , hoe digs to around 17+ ft . but they are big and for most hoe work require a lot of room to move , I looked at 3 of them and then found a 715B with a extend-hoe Digmore unit that will extend to 18' . Had 2,000 hours on it and had been a municipal machine . Now with over 7,000 hours of use in doing septic work and loading my trucks from my sand pit
