Hi everybody. You may remember I posted a year ago about my 7060 that has been sitting for 10 years. I found time to work on it again after getting a “used” primer put on it. If you prime the fuel system and leave it for about a month the fuel filter turns almost clear like it’s full of water. Any reasons why?

If you prime the filter until it’s full and spraying out the primer then take a injector line off the pump you do not get any fuel coming out as you prime it. Any clues why? The primer gets harder the more you prime it like it’s hitting a block.

I’m trying to avoid tearing the pump off the machine and having it rebuilt if i can help it but i will if i absolutely need to. Any thoughts, clues, help would be greatly appreciated

The primer will never push fuel out a injector line. You have air in system. Air will compress so makes it hard to move. Loosen 3 or 4 lines at Injectors. Pump primer, spin engine a few rounds pump primer, spin engine. Do this a few times until fuel comes out of loose lines. Tighten lines and it should start. MACK

If the tractor has been sitting that long, the metering valve could be stuck. It can be freed up by taking the top off of the pump.

Hello MACK,
Apologies for the very delayed response time. Life got busy and i finally found time again to look at the tractor. I got the motor free after it got half stuck and started cranking it over after taking the bolt loose on the bottom of the pump so i could get the air out. If I crank the motor over i get a little bit of fuel at 1 4 and 5. I get the most fuel at 2, I get no fuel at 3 and 6. Any suggestions? it does smoke a tiny bit when i crank it over

When i have someone watch the lines i get a little bit of air out of #1 and #2 at times when cranking. I have all the lines cracked loose so i can watch for fuel and air coming out of them. I’m hoping to not have to rebuild this pump unless i absolutely have to. Is there anything I can do to it to maybe “convince” it to pump fuel better? It has not been started in 8 years

If there is RUST inside the pump, it is most likely junk.

It may also be gummed up, if it has been sitting with bio-diesel.

" injpumpEd " is very knowledgeable, when it comes to injector pumps.

I’ll see if i can send him a message. Thank you. i won’t rule out issues with the pump. If you take the one bolt out of the side of it and smell the inside you can smell the old rotten fuel

sadly, it's gonna have to come off and be properly serviced, if it hasn't pumped by now, it isn't going to. The plungers stick in these, and will not deliver fuel. The small amount of fuel you see may be transfer pump fuel so at least you haven't seized the head yet. Good luck!
