got a text earlier in the week from a guy looking for work. Texted back the job parameters, you know hours, schedule, class A CDL with X endorsement, no driver facing cameras, housing furnished(if needed), no auto restriction, pay based on experience, etc. Scheduled Friday noon to stop in a fill out application. Friday noon no show, texted him an hour later, said to stop by anytime. 4pm got a return text saying ‘no thanks, I am not comfortable driving manuals full time’. Well crap. What’s wrong with people nowadays?

See that here in Some individuals that come Here to apply for work. NO Skills yet Demand Skilled wages, Untrained yet Demand they be trained WITH PAY, laughable ethics where THEY want to set their own hours not respect the business design. This is the Indoctrinated and Unethical mentality presented by our Leftist schools. And they are as much in error as to those values being a "Socialist" Standard, far from it and will be a harder lesson learned once they achieve that Dream that will fail to rationalize to their indoctrination values.

Even better when you change the shift pattern sticker on top of the knob to a different pattern.

Oh h3!!... put me in the cab of a three-stick 73-speed multi-part fool-injection dripple-clutch air-assisted flip-switch twin-screw jake-broke smokemaker, and it doesn't matter WHAT you put on the pattern... I'll be accellerating backwards for the first three gears, then forward for two, skip two, then reverse again... slip to one side, bounce, burp, and fart... it'll look like an industrial chicken dance before all them gear teeth fall out the bottom
Better off payin' me by the hour, I wouldn't make six bucks tryin' to make it by-the-mile...
Just give me three forward, one reverse, and ... I'll be fine. In a big truck, that's all of 7mph... I'll get to the sale barn by next thursday.

Fellow i drive for every once in a while was looking for a truck and said I would sell him my old GMC - first thing was it's a RT 613 tranny and he said he cant even find a driver for his 5 speed auto let alone a 13 speed . Then I wonder how anyone could ever drive a straight gear 5 x 4 unit where you need to double clutch . Years back hired some day labor to do a septic drain field - they had shovel holding down pat but not moving it , or carrying pipe - seems on a 60ft trench they could not figure out more than 1 - 10 ft length of pipe was needed - One did say of I showed him how to run the backhoe - he would do that and I could shovel and carry pipe . He Figured setting in the hoe seat was easier than standing holding a shovel .

Had young fellow stop in day before yesterday, asked if we was hiring? I say yes we are, you wanna ‘drive and work, or drive’? He says ‘drive’. Start off with the quick list of questions, you got a Class A cdl, yep he does, you got hazmat endorsement? Nope he says, well at that point we’re done. Why do these guys think they don’t need hazmat in this part of the country?

My own CDL comes due to renew August. Will not renew Hazmat nor bus nor tank. Will be a base Class A for the remainder of my driving days.

DMiller,I disagree with your statement "Today's youth ". I've dealt with privileged people of all ages! And they are always right! And most never had to work as hard as farming, construction or driving truck!

Are or Can Be a limited few youth today, but in general as have witnessed, if NOT presented Top Wages regardless skill level attained, the current generation considers it a affrontery as to their time. Also if cannot achieve the work while steadily on a electronic device they find it too demeaning of their capabilities, IE working a Simple Shovel or Rake.
Know of Cities that cannot attain Fire Fighter or Police academy entrants, even electrical lineman or even Service repair technicians, one as to Physical Endurance or strength quals, and two as to their ability to function without electronic devices. They EXPECT there are others to perform such demeaning functions and EXPECT those to save their sorry helpless butts when something fails. Heaven forbid a EMP device goes off or our Sun get extremely angry and destroy the satellite systems and electronics systems they are so dependent of, they will all go insane from lack of.
