I know depending on the chore of the tractor but how long are people getting use out of there clutch cables before they are stretched  beyond use or before they break?  last one maybe has a yr and a half on it?

Don't know your specifics, but 15 to 20 years on many used in the field.

And you're absolutely sure the 7040 cable is stretched ?? I'd bet the brass bushings on the valve fork are broken. The 7080 was new 18 months ago too ?? Where did you buy the cables new ??

The no cab 7000 series tractors didn't use a clutch cable. They had a very simple rod linkage that was easy to use and didn't stretch or wear out. Pedal effort was minimal compared to a cable that gets dry and stiff.

bought them from my agco dealer.  The 7040 has had at least 3 cables replaced since Ive had it maybe 13 yrs and the 80  that I havnt had very long just broke last night.  How do I look up the bushing on the forks your talking about?
