Just got a 1964 I-40 Allis Chalmers tractor and I have lost the outer bearing on the axel shaft and I can’t find the s/n for the machine and I have now clue what bearing I need. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Ii think the I40 should be the same rear end as a D12 (?) ..... here are the part numbers, you might compare the SIZE.

Kevin, i was hoping someone with some better info would jump in here and answer.. I dont see these two ALLIS part numbers being cross referenced to a Name Brand Bearing anywhere on  GOOGLE.... Do you have an ID or an OD for the bearing... or is there a number etched on the races ?  ... If your going to an ALLIS Dealer, thats different.

Steve,
I found the bearing I needed. I was able to pull it off the axel and get numbers off of it. So I’m a week I should have this up and running again. Thanks for the response.

You didn’t mention replacing the seal, perfect time to replace it. Are you replacing the axle bearing or pinion shaft bearing?

Steve,
So I put the new outer pinion bearing on and drove for about 5 minutes and totally destroyed the new bearing. Pulled the outer inspection cap off and flashed a flashlight into the axel housing and I think the inner bearing is gone. My nightmare came true and now I’m going have to pull the whole axel housing off the tractor. Fun
