Currently looking at a 12 row White 6182 front-fold planter. Plan would to be pull it with my 8050, but if i get in a pinch would my 6080 be able to drag it down the road and through a field? I know i'd have to have a PTO pump for the blower. Our ground is relatively flat without any steep hills, and primarily no-till. Also not looking at too many acres, only around 100 acres this year. I don't have any duals for the 6080, and no front weights as it has a loader mount, but i imagine i could fab up a weight bracket if needed.  ------------- Jimmy 1982 8050 Powershift 1982 6080 1992 R52 Gleaner |

Considering White because i have excellent dealer support, 4 independent Agco dealers within an hour. One is even a Ford/New Holland dealer so its a one stop shop for all my equipment. Also like the idea of the White meter system, seems simple and reliable. With that being said my next options would be a finger pick-up Deere or Kinze. Just depends on what i end up settling on for price/condition. . If in a pinch, I'd expect you could remove a few row units and plant with a smaller tractor. Drag weight of six rows will be half of the full twelve. Only half the water tank weight needed for the same per row down pressure. You might even get it working on eight or ten rows. Old guys used to cover a lot of ground with two, four, and six row planters back in the day... Edit: 100 acres of planting with a two row on the 35hp Ferguson we used when I was a kid could be done in a week-ish. A fancy four row planter could cover that in four ten hour days. If I did my figures right, and that's running in a slower gear than I'd expect to get up to after the first few acres. You'll be alright. . |

| Depends on if you have fertilizer tanks and openers, that will add weight and make it pull a little harder. Duals and some front weight would help. You are going to have your hands full but you could do it. I would buy a Kinze before a Deere. Just try to keep the 8050 on it and be good. |

| Years ago used a 6080 on a 6 row 7000 Deere with a 5 row splitter. Total of 11 rows for beans. No problem. Traded planters to a 12 row black machine. Tongue weight was too much for the 6080 when we lifted planter. Could pull it just fine but the drawbar looked like it was made out of rubber when you turned on the end. Switch it to a doggie 7020. No problem with the drawbar. Planter weight is the bigger issue. |

Taking it down the road would be the issue. No till mostly flat without any fertilizer you may actually prefer the 6080. Hydraulics may be slow and turning on the ends the 6080 may want to slide especially if no extra weights but pulling it through the field I think you’ll be fine. ------------- Orange & Silver still earnin their keep on the farm: R62, Series IV D17 nf, 185, 6080, 6080 fwa, 220, 1968 D21, 7045, DT240. |

No we pull a 6180 with a 7040. No way I’d put it on a 6080. That planter is heavy especially in transport. Not a bad planter. Row units and meters are good. Planter bar is a little to be desired. Buy the white planter. I bought a new one 1998 and the only parts I have to buy were new openers, still use it to plant all my corn. Three years ago I bought a new 9523 white to plant my beans. The fold system where the wheels pivot around from plant to transport is a junk system. If you like tracing wiring and jumping solinoids and adjusting micro switches instead of planting by all means buy it. I would prefer the vac or finger units instead of a white positive air system. In notill trash would plug the fan intake screen and not move enough air and the outside units population would start to fall off because it wouldn't blow enough to keep seed on the disc. The screw adjust depth is a joke also. There is a reason those planters are cheap. Look at a 1760 or 2210 kinze. They are lighter, simpler and better planters. |

Been no-tilling with White Planters for 25 years and had none of that crap with trash or population variations. | I like my white. The only reason I'm going to change is because of transport width. I tried to find a kinze frame to put white units on but had no luck. |
