Just checked mine ( 149 gas engine ) and they're all about .015" . Some are a bit looser than others . Just wondered if anyone has a foolproof way to do this ? I had trouble keeping the gap from moving when I tightened the lock nut . Guess it would help to have an extra pair of hands . Thanks !

Thanks Dr Allis. I'm checking them cold and I set them at.015" cold last summer. Just hard to get them all just right. For me anyway. On some my feeler gauge doesn't have the same "drag"

Seems someone was asking about valve adjustment recently . I'm sure I learned it from this forum . Probably Dr Allis . THANKS ! Cold engine , pull plugs , big screwdriver in timing hole on flywheel teeth turns engine . Get #1 on compression stroke . On my engine the crank set screw is up , adjust #1 . Turn engine 1/2 turn , set screw down . Adjust #2 . Another 1/2 turn , adjust #4 . One last 1/2 turn , adjust #3 . Set all mine so there's a slight drag on the .015" feeler gauge . Hope this sounds right to everyone . THANKS again

Just checked my engine compression . #1-135 , #2-140 , #3-145 , #4-150 . Still leaks down but not nearly as quick as before the head rebuild . Guess it's leaking past the rings ? A new set of Autolite 295 and I'm done . THANKS !
