Switch to + side of the coil and - to the distributor on a negative ground system.

'Red' is right, for you...
'Blue' is bad, well it actually will work, but not as good a spark......
You will not damage anything if you miswire the coil.

if you connect it up backwards ( the BLUE photo).. you will have current flowing BACKWARD thru the point and condenser in addition to the coil... not an ideal situation.
------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Distributer is the ground just like battery. If battery is pos. ground, coil is pos. grounded to distributer. MACK

Christian, Don't forget, you have a Pertronix electronic ignition I fixed you up in that new Distributor so, from the E.I. in the Distributor, the RED wire goes to the plus (+) side of the coil, and the BLACK wire from the E.I. goes to the Negative (-) side of the Coil. The circuit from the Ignition switch goes to the plus (+) side of the coil with the RED wire from the E.I. I don't want to see you burn out your new E.I. The fellers here don't know you have an E.I.
