well...the 6x6 ATV i bought for the old lady.....ooooooops....I mean the loving wife, is sitting, won't run, has a Kohler V-twin OHC engine. runs on carb cleaner and starting fluid, flushed the fuel system and lines, new gas with  a little bit of HEET in it, took the fuel pump hoses off (vacuum pump) and wasn't getting much out of it, order and replaced the fuel pump, still no change. sprayed lots of carb cleaner inside and outside the carb. am affraid to take the carb off, last time I messed with a little carb, a little spring zinged out and was never found...guess it was an important one! any ideas?

If there is a fuel shutoff the needle and seat are stuck shut.  Had it happen on my generator and it didn't take long, it had sat for a little over a year without running.

If memory serves me right it's on the side of the carb.

Fuel lines rotten in the tank maybe and sucking air.
Ethanol is good for that.

My 720, the dip tube in the tank has a hole or crack in it, I have to make sure fuel is above it. I replaced a perfectly good fuel pump also. I just ran a hose from the pump inlet to a can of gas to prove my problem.

I'm with K99. electric fuel S/O, lower carb, flywheel side.  They are kinda pricy.

me too....
the 'frugal fix' is to unscrew the 'anti dieselling valve'(B&S term), rip off the rubber, then replace.
Now get get flow 24/7 BUT the needle valve IS the shutoff.
I've done 2, cut the gas line installed a B&S shutoff

It might just need cleaning. easy to test, clean then hit with 12v and be 100% sure it MOVES...

good idea, this will instantly tell if you have a fuel restriction.

Clue to the shut off thingy, it has a wire or wires hooked to it.  Have a new one on order for nine.

My Thermalarc welder was that way, had to braze the pickup tube at rust thru line and change all 'rubber' fuel lines.  V-twin Honda on it.

fuel filter replaced, the gas tank is a gravity flow out the bottom, the hoses are clear (open), replaced a few hoses, will check the needle thingy when I go back out there.

Sounds like it will be a fun toy once you get it running.  Now be honest, did you REALLY buy it for the old lady, er loving wife or for yourself?
