Picked up a 185 last weekend, when its first started there's no power steering or power director. The remotes work. Would this most likely be a sticky priority valve? Takes 5 minutes or more before I get steering and can move. Power director slips in high also but I'm hoping that just a linkage issue. Previous owner said stepping on the brakes while in high range it would slow down and then hold. I dont see how that would be the case and it didn't work for me, it still slipped. Its something I'll look into when its warmer and I have more time to mess with it.

Two problems at least. If it takes 5 minutes to get steering, the pump isn't pulling oil up and out of the sump. Could be a bad pump shaft seal (pulling air) or the internal seals of the pump need to be freshened up. 3-point hitch working, means lifting a LOAD, not just going up. Power director issue may be a stuck pressure regulator spool in the power director valve. Linkage not generally an issue, unless the lever detent isn't allowing full lever stroke then lock. High side only problem may be the stuck pressure regulator or broken discs in the clutch. Verify pressures at the manifold where the brake latch is mounted.
