one of my customers gave me a lock and lube it came with one set of replace ment parts and i have not used them yet and i have used that gun enought this year to almost empty a 5 gallon bucket of grease  it still locks on good and comes off easy and dosnot leak  but it does need a tiny bit more space

I’ve had a Milwaukee battery grease gun for at least 5 years now. It was worth every penny I paid for it. I put one of the locking coupler on it(doubt that’s the correct term). Really nice as you lock it on and it free’s up your hand. Makes it much easier to lube hard to reach grease zirks. Will see if I can find the brand name and report back.

The Lock N Lube works good as long as you can get it on.

We also had a Lincoln electric gun, and though it wasn’t designated as a locking coupling, it was the best one I ever used with regard to the coupling. Battery lifespan was its downside.

Most I get now are very frustrating.

I've seen and been really interested in the lock n lube, but am afraid I'll run into a bunch of spots it won't fit. U joints, FWA tractor joints, disk bearings as odd angles...

How are you guys getting along?

Your concerns are warranted.  There are definitely spots they won't fit.  One has to decide, is it worth it to have 2 guns with you?  Or the other nozzle to change out real quick?  They work, but the above are almost as frustrating as a stubborn fitting in the first place.  Is it just me, or did guns and zerks fit better back in the day?  This didn't seem to be as big an issue.  'course then, I was just a kid greasing stuff because dad asked me to, perhaps I didn't pay as close attention as I do now.

Take a regular grease zerk coupler install a short hose with a zerk on one end and use it as a jumper to your good zerk coupler when space is a problem. One gun with an accessory.

   OR

Install a 45' or 90' zerk threaded in to the end of a std. coupler.

I believe the problem now is the grease zerk not the coupler. Most of the cheap imported zerks do not have the correct shape to them and will not hold the coupler in place. If you can get a good quality one they work fine. Lot of the new tie rods and stuff leak all over. Replace the grease fitting with a quality one and they work fine.

Where do you buy your replacement zerks?

Wherever I can get them. Usually at nut and bolt stores or auto supply. Helps if you tell them you want quality ones although some look at you like you are crazy. I also save any that I can out of old u-joints or front end parts so have a whole box of used ones. Only save the ones that look fairly good.

I have not bought much equipment in years (new or used) so part of my problems are the fittings are warn, but couplers ware too. I spent years trying new couplers and grease guns. Even with a good USA name on them junk just like screaming made in China ones. Finally a Alimente, and I stumbled on another somebody though looked old and warn out, still works fine. Finally  complaining about couplers to one of the old guys at NAPA parts store, he went in back and got me one that works like they did 50 years ago. Thumbs Up Most couplers are made in China JUNK.

I spent years greasing combines months at a time as the weird to the rest of the world climate here we harvested 6 months of the year. I still see no reason for a powered grease gun. Yes I pumped a tube of grease every morning for at least 4 months of the year for 10 years. Now if somebody would of come and blown/vacuumed all the dust/chaff off. Yes we blew the radiators engine compartments on the MH2's every morning as well. But just not enough air and time to go much farther. Sorry for the change of direction Wink ,Oh that's right the guy complaining of that seems gone.   LOL

I got a pkg of Alemite grease couplers and a large Alemite zerk assortment years ago, these are at my shop for me and mine to use. I've never had a need for a lock-on coupler, I have replaced more then a few zerks that get hard to grease. My 12V Lincoln grease gun w/Alemite coupler has no issue putting grease where I want it. Nor my lever guns.
At work always tried to have either Alemite or Lincoln onhand, far less trouble than others we tried.

I need to buy an assortment of Alemite zerks I guess.  I remember years ago, never had or heard of a locking coupler, and grease went through the zerk unless it was plugged.  When plugged, it would pressurize the hose so bad you could hardly get it off, just with the normal "click on" fit of the normal coupler.  Now, you have to be in line within .0001" to not leak grease it seems.  And that ain't always too practical!!AngryLOL

Mine is made by Lock N Lube. I have it on a flexible hose on my Milwaukee 18V grease gun. Works very well for me. I’ve only had a few fittings that I couldn’t get to with it.

I have a lock and Lube and it started to leak...Changed a few zerks but still problematic. Finally decided to go get the pigtail that had the old regualr coupler. L&L was the culprit.. A repair kit came with it and changed it but not had a chance to use it... Had it about a year and wondered if that was normal. Hear a lot about one called "Saker..."

I'd estimate that the l&l coupler is space restricted in about 2-5% times I have used it.  Also, take a grease rag with you when you grease, most of the time it leaks, its grit that is the cause of the leak...

The dr has the right idea, and then there's this, for those that the l&l won't fit...
