Will the old round metal boxes work in place of the white plastic ones or is the planting mechanism different on the plastic boxes.....maybe something changed because the plastic ones are later model planters.

The planter they will be used on is the row units that drive off the press wheel.

Planter is old enough it has flat chain links instead of roller chain on the drive units. The planter that I saw the metal cans on at the salvage yard appeared to be basically the same type of row units (driven with the flat chain) but I didn't know if the plates and planting mechanisms were the same.

I also replaced my round plastic boxes with the newer square boxes (fiberglass) on my 600 planter
