I have an Allis Chalmers B. Tractor No. 25557.
Does this mean it is 7th 1935 tractor made?

Model "B" tractors didn't come out until late 1937. Yours is a 1939.

Early models had different front rims and attachment bolts.. You may notice that.

Also early model may not have generator / starter / battery systems ???  YOURS ?

DR. Allis, Thanks for the quick reply. I might have misled you. The tractor no. on my tractor is E25557. The serial number chart shows E255581 as a 1935. Says the last number after the 5s is the total made that year. Hood has surface rust so there are no visible numbers or words.
Tractor looks like a B to me.

what serial number chart are you using ?  There were no "B" tractors in 1935 ...

Allis made some kits and later complete tractors in England ( 1940s) and the serial numbers started with an "E" instead of a "B" ........... but none in 1935.

this is what an Allis B looks like....are you sure your tractor is ALLIS ?  and what Number Chart are you referring to ?

The Serial Number for the B would be Stamped into the Transmission Case next to the shift lever...

Thanks for reply. Only numbers on tractor are E25557 stamped on transmission case.  No battery, starter generator or lights.
Came from brother-in-laws estate. He had it for many years. 
Always in USA. Maybe someone replaced tranny with E kit.

I think the British units were actually stamped EB  , so there was an "E" stamped in front of the "B" serial number..... Without seeing the unit or knowing anymore about it, i would guess that the "B" was stamped light on the one side and looks like a "E" ....

Richard... the B went thru 2-3 different front wheel designs prior to 1940... Finally they used a 5 bolt plattern like a car to fasten the rim to the hub...

In 1939 i "THINK" the rim was riveted to the hub with 6 rivets... You might take a look at that, to confirm it is a 1939 ....... if it still has the original rims.

As far as I know, Allis always used a sequential serial number that had no hidden meaning or codes to it.  Simply the next number up from the last one.  I'm going with Steve and guessing the B was a crooked light stamp and looks like an E.

Sorry for confusion. The number stamped on transmission is B25557
[not E]. No battery, head lights [no holes in hood] or staters. 
No other numbers on engine. Defiantly a B.
Just trying to make sure what year it is before selling.

GREAT !!............ the engine serial numbers on the LATER units were on the flange that bolts to the bell housing on the LEFT SIDE of the motor.... the serial numbers for the EARLY models were stamped on the TOP and probably not visable with the gas tank and mount in the way.  Early model motors would be BE ( 116 inch) and later would be CE ( 125 inch).
