My wife has made stove top cornbread several times in the cast iron skillet she uses a aluminium skillet lid but the recipe calls for aluminium foil it turns out well even using a box mix. Last time she did a gluten free for my daughters college roommate dont use the oven much in the summer. I've also made it on the BBQ grill when I was in turkey living in tent city. It turns out very good on a grill

I just seen this thread,Thad, and I have made corn bread out of a box on the grill several times with good results. I used a cast iron skillet with it's top, get grill good and hot and check for doneness. My grill has 3 burners and I set the middle burner at half and two end burners at full. One thing I do is add a 303 size can of whole kernal CORN (drained) to the mix and rub the skillet with lard,,,bacon fat would be many wonderfuls,,,!!!

I've been wanting to try this on top of my wood stove, but haven't yet. Might have to take a shot at a few of these recipes you guys are talking about.

when i was a kid, Grandma would make Navy Bean and ham soup and have cornbread to go with it... probably once a week......... Dont think i have had it more than 3-4 times in the past 60 years.
------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I've recently cooked "No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars" and the result was delicious. I'll try other recipes and let you know! I've also tried my friend's https://sweetandsavorymeals.com/carrot-cake-recipe/" rel="nofollow - best homemade carrot cake recipe on a stevetop, but the final result wasn't as expected. I know that carrot cake is typically baked in an oven, as it requires even and consistent heat to rise properly and cook all the way through. Trying to cook a carrot cake on a stovetop would likely result in an unevenly cooked cake with a dense, gooey texture. I will try the same recipe in the oven or microware for sure.
