That sure beats picking by hand!

I actually really like to see tow-behind machinery. This keeps the engine in a tractor that can be used all year, not sit idle for nine or ten months where the pistons get stuck and other things happen. If a tractor goes down it's easy to sub in a replacement powerplant. Self-propelled combine you're "stuck".

Looks really similar to the farm dad and I worked on in Colorado raising edible beans, (pinto beans). We cut and windrowed with 2 different tractors in the early morning hours like 3am to about 7 while there was dew. once they dried in the windrow for almost a week, we would combine them with a JD 55, then later a 95. When they sold out I think they were using their axial flow CIH combine. There was one guy in the area that had a pull type Lilliston Edible bean combine, but I never saw it up close, it looked similar to these Bob machines though. Very cool video. I am sure the pinto beans are combined with regular combines now in colo, but could be wrong. Been gone from that area almost 30 years lol!

Great video. I'm very familiar with this having grown dark red kidneys, crans, and otebos for 20 years. Started with a Lilliston pull type combine which is a modified peanut harvester. Upgraded to a BOBS 666 which is a size larger than the 56's shown. Pulled it with a JD 8100. I did some modifications to improve performance. Cultivated the kidneys usually twice with my D17 IV diesel with 14.9 x 38 rears. Retired from kidneys in 2003. Haven't gone to the washroom at 3 am and had a sudden urge to pull beans so I'm cured of that operation !!!
