I see there is a rare 7000 Special on Auction Time this week. What exactly was so unique about this model? I don't have Norms Bible here at the house. Thanks, Ryan

Not really rare, just has the heavy duty front axle like a 7020 and 8 lug wheels. All the specials I've seen labeled as such have been black chassis tractors though. Never seen a maroon that said special on it. But I have heard they put the hd axle on some maroons.

So that was the only difference just the bigger front axel?

Ryan. I look at it this way. the maroon belly 7000 was a 200 with new sheet metal. The black belly was more of 7010/7020 version.. and yes, the heavier front end was part of that. Dale

Other than the appearance and the heavy front axle, and being AC, a 7000 no matter the series is a class all by itself. The black chassis just is a little different in that it uses the low side power director clutch to stop and start movement. Still uses same principal power director as before, Under, direct, (like 190/200) and over drive(what made a 7000 better)

My maroon, open station has the heavy axle.

Does it have the "special" decal anywhere? I've never seen a maroon labeled as such, but know they are out there.

My black belly 7000 has the heavy axle and does not have the special decal...

If I am not mistaken the Special decal was a local promotion from an AC area branch.
Also the gears in the 7000 addressed the gear jumping issue of the 180/190/200  versions.   The shift lugs had a small degree of 'hold in ' angle... some to aggressive but it fixed the issue.

Wasn't the hydraulic pump moved on the Black 7000? I had a red 7000 and it was special to me.
