I will first say my Dad and Sister have had retina issues so I am hyper aware when my vision changes!
Two Saturdays ago I developed extra and large floaters in my left eye, was also getting flashes of light. Had stuff to do so hadn’t done anything about it. That Thursday I developed a black spot in my left peripheral vision, so then the question was where to begin-I scheduled an eye exam speaking often of my concern! He said that was way beyond his knowledge-gave me a brochure to a specialist. That was after hours on Friday so I called the specialist a week ago Monday! He took awhile but found a tear in my left retina. He said he could just laser the tear, but that would not get rid of the black area in my vision-I opted for him to inject a gas bubble in the eye. The worst of that was I needed to keep my head tilted to the left, Day and night, so the gas was in contact with the tear. My vision is better, tomorrow he is going to laser the tear. That gas bubble has been AWEFUL! At night with my eyes closed it glows purple! He says the bubble should be gone after about two weeks. I am a carpenter, and that gas bubble initially was so big I could not even use a scissor! It’s much smaller now so tomorrow I will ask him when I can go to work- my boss will need a Dr release after being gone that long!

Will add you to my prayers. Seems you need to follow doctors orders closely with such important things as your eyes, no matter how boring it is.

Glad you are getting it taken care of. Vision is nothing to mess around with. Praying all goes well. Takke enough time off to make sure it heals. Now if you had the bubble in the middle you would be on the level.

Damaged my Left eye in 87, can still see but not well where can only manage 20/40 with that one on a good day.  Since Covid and coughing and the Jab I have had EXCESSIVE floaters where the Eye doc noted had not seen them congregated toward the Front of a Eye before.  No flashes, no loss of acuity just aggravating floaters as well a NEW concern of a Cataract forming in Right Eye, fixed the Left one some three years back now, will be likely to get this one fixed over the next year.

Definite prayers from here!!

My Father suffered from Makler Degeneration in his later years, hence all us siblings take care of our eyes. Dads eye doctor, at the time claimed extra vitamin A would have staved off M.D.
Just be aware, floaters, white streaks of light, and black spots may be a symptom of a Migraine coming on. Those I have battled for decades

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I wish you well on your recovery. Vision is not something we want to have issues with.
7 years ago I had cataracts removed and lenses inserted. The right went as planned, and followup Lasik gave me 20/20 in right. The left had issues and vision got floaters & distortion in it. Took a lot of visits to eye specialist and injections in eye but distortion & floaters are gone but have lost some vision in left eye.

I just got back from the laser surgery! He gave me a note for my supervisor that I can work without restriction! I go back to work tomorrow!
