Hi all, when reassembling overhaul on engine that ran and roosa injection pump wasn't removed or altered during in-frame rebuild process what is process to get timing and fuel primed?
I'm at the point of installing new pistons and have a rebuilt head to put back on. (I'm just trying to get opinions on the process since the manual is extremely in depth on details when the injection pump was removed and rebuilt)
Thanks Matt

If it wasnt removed and the engine timing gears weren't messed with, install the injector lines leaving them loose at the injectors. Turn the engine over till fuel comes out at the injectors. Tighten the lines and it should go

When measuring sleeve protrusion on a wet sleeve diesel engine ,after pressed in my manual says to put temporary bolts and washers on top of block to hold sleeves in(I'm assuming because in a normal situation on an engine stand you would rotate the whole engine over to bolt the rods on to the crankshaft? In other words to keep them from falling out, but then I got to thinking do they need bolted and torqued down to get correct protrusion measurement or is tapped into place enough on the sleeve to get accurate protrusion measurement?

To accurately measure protrusion, you put them in dry with no orings, and make sure they fit and can rotate easily, showing you got the block cleaned thoroughly. Once that is done, then put the orings on, lube up and slide in one at a time, and put a bolt and large washer to catch the flange simply so the pistons don't push them out while turning the engine. I put a bolt and washer between two cylinders. Simply snugged down is all that is needed.

Before installing the liners, check to make sure there are no sharp edges to nick the O-rings, in the lower bore.
